How can essential oils enhance the health of your family? Have you ever wondered how essential oils are used? Or why they’re so popular right now?
Meet our friend, Suzanna Nichols. She is a wife, a mother of four, an incredible masseuse, and she loves Jesus! She has a passion for promoting natural health and wellness, which led her to become a distributer of Young Living Essential Oils. She regularly uses the oils for herself, her family, and her highly successful massage therapy practice.
How did you keep your family/kids healthy when they were little?
Suzanna: “We did several things, from reducing sugar, to getting rid of commercial cereals, and increasing the amount of water that we drank. We also loved to have fun, even when we had to do things that were not so fun (like cleaning the house or going over homework). I always tried to find ways to make it fun or light. Mental health is just as important as physical health.
Sitting down to eat as a family was always a priority and has proven to be one of the healthiest practices that has stayed with my children. We also were lovers of drinking clean water. Of all the changes we made as a family, drinking lots of water and staying hydrated has been the practice that has stayed with all of my adult children and is now being passed on to our grandkids!”
What led you to start using essential oils?
Suzanna: “I had used an organic essential oils as aromatherapy only for my massage clients when I began massaging in 2011. A client came into the office in November 2011. He could see that I was not 100%. He gave me a small cup of water, put two drops of Thieves essential oil in it, and told me to drink it down. I said, “I do not drink essential oils!” He explained that this particular brand is made to ingest and that it was safe. Then he dared me, and I did it. I drank it down and Voila! In less than 10 minutes the discomfort I was experiencing was gone.
He shared with me all the benefits of this brand of oils. I had been using another brand with nowhere close to the results that I had experienced here. I then began to use Young Living Essential Oils in my massage practice, not ONLY as aromatherapy but topically and saw tremendous results. I started hosting Young Living educational classes, and it grew from there into a team.”
Explain to us how oils work to enhance health?
Suzanna: “We are energetic beings. We are energy and light. We are spirit, soul, body, and emotions. You can smell them, apply them topically, and some you can even ingest. The oils are made of small molecules that enter the body through the skin, diffusing into the air, or ingesting. The molecules then work with the energy of the body without having to go through the digestive system, allowing them to go straight to the cellular level.”
Educate us on how to use essential oils to support health.
Suzanna: “Apply essential oils every 10-15 minutes until you see a change. Different oils are used for different things.”

Anything else you want to share with us?
Suzanna: “In my experience, preventive health practices really do play out well in the long run. I have seen it in my children and in many other families I know who have implemented holistic wellness practices and choices into their lives.
Holistic health is an ancient approach which considers the whole person and emphasizes the connection of mind, body, and spirit. Rather than focusing on one illness or a specific part of the body, holistic health considers the whole person and how he or she interacts with the environment.
Be patient with yourself and others; wellness is taken one step at a time. Also, keep it simple; don’t get overwhelmed. Ask the Holy Spirit for guidance.”
