Time to Read: 2 minutes

A few years ago I had a sweet friend fall out of her attic onto the cement floor of her garage. She broke her wrist and had a pretty bad concussion. For days she could not remember what happened or why her wrist hurt. We would tell her over and over she fell out of the attic. Each time we relayed the story she would respond with, “Thank you Jesus!” She had a heart so saturated in gratefulness that the one thing continually coming out of her mouth, even confused and in pain, was those three powerful words. Thank you Jesus! I was amazed!

So I added this little statement to my vocabulary. When… I find a good parking place, the overflowing trash bag doesn’t break, I make it to the gas station before I run out of gas even though I’ve been driving on E for three days- I say, “Thank you Jesus!”

Now sometimes it is hard to say, “Thank you Jesus!” When things don’t go my way or if bad things happen I want to say, “What’s the deal Jesus?”  But I’ve discovered that statement is not near as powerful (hee- hee).

When I declare gratefulness connected to the power of Jesus’ name in ALL circumstances everything changes. Well, maybe not the circumstance but my attitude, perspective, hope in the situation- those things radically change.

Science tells us that when we focus on gratitude we experience greater emotional well-being, physical  health and improved relationships. Who doesn’t want that?

Scripture tells us of how powerful the name of Jesus is.

There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. – Acts 4:12
At the name of Jesus every knee should bow. – Philippians 2:10
Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do. – John 14:13
Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name! – Luke 10:17
Signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus. – Acts 4:30
For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. – Romans 10:13

Sooooo….when you partner the powerful intention of gratefulness with the almighty powerful name of Jesus you have a supernatural force.

Thank you Jesus is a declaration that changes the atmosphere when spoken.

It fills hearts with gratefulness and it shows people what a grateful spirit looks like. It takes an everyday situation and turns it into a wonder. It takes unknown situations and turns them into opportunities of obedience and trust. It sums up  I Thessalonians 5: 16-18:  Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus in 3 small words- Thank you Jesus!

Try it today! Try it everyday! Say it under your breath! Declare it out loud!
