All those words are things we want for our children and ways we work hard to get them to act. Let us give you some insight on how to cultivate these in your home!
In the Bible we see that Jesus had so much more authority than he used. He could have commanded angels when Satan tempted him or when He was on the cross, but He didn’t.
He used example and service and teaching instead of authority.⠀
Why?
Because he knows that people don't believe because of authority.
People want to follow those who set the example and give up their lives up, not the person who wants to be the authority.
We are so concerned as parents about our kids honoring our authority. But like Jesus knew, the more we use our authority to get our kids to obey, the less they are going to believe.
So today, what if like Jesus, we didn't focus on our authority but instead focused on our example and serving and loving our kids?
Just like Jesus, we have so much more authority than we should actually use. Authority puts fear in people, but it doesn't make people believe. Laying down our lives makes people believe.
Let’s choose to do it like Jesus did it and see what happens in our families!
