He Sees Us

He Sees Us

For your ways are in full view of the Lord, and he examines all your paths.

Proverbs 5:21

He Sees Us

When we read this verse, it’s easy to picture God as a stern father—watching our every move, ready to correct us the moment we step out of line. We imagine Him “examining” our paths like a teacher grading a test or a quality control inspector searching for flaws.

But what if God isn’t like that at all?

What if He examines our paths with a kind and loving heart—wanting not to catch us in failure, but to guide us toward what’s best?

Look at the next two verses:

The evil deeds of the wicked ensnare them; the cords of their sins hold them fast. For lack of discipline they will die, led astray by their own great folly.

Proverbs 5:22–23

God loves us. He wants to save us from the consequences of sin and self-destruction. He examines our paths not to condemn us, but to lovingly redirect us—to speak to us, to encourage us, and to lead us toward life.

What if we viewed God that way?

And then—what if we parented that way?

Not as stern examiners with furrowed brows, but as compassionate parents—deeply interested in our children’s paths so we can guide, encourage, and inspire them in the direction that leads to life.

So much of great parenting begins with seeing our heavenly Father rightly—and then reflecting that same grace and love to our children.

Be encouraged today: God examines all your paths with a kind and loving heart. He is for your good. And may you be inspired to parent your children in that same spirit of love and compassion.
