Do you want to know the most valuable thing you can do for your family?
Pursue God with everything you have. Do not give up. Do not relent. Give Him everything.
Matthew 22:37-39 says this:
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
According to Jesus this is the greatest commandment. It is the best thing we can do with our time, our resources, and ultimately our lives.
Ever wonder why pursing God is at greatest commandment? Well, we will tell you. It is because out of your relationship with God comes all other relationships. In John 15, our relationship with the Lord is compared to a tree and its branches. It says it is impossible to bear fruit without being connected to the tree.
That is a picture of our lives. We cannot bear fruit unless we are connected to the vine.
We need to be connected to the Lord to have the character and wisdom to lead our families.
We need to abide in the vine to be able to know and love our kids the way we are called to.
We need to pursue God so that we can be our best for our families.
Taking time to prioritize pursing God is often one of the easiest things to drop when life gets stressful or busy. If we truly want to thrive in this world then the opposite needs to happen. When life gets busy, we spend more time pursing God. That is when we will start to see our own lives change and ultimately our families.
Practical Tip for Pursuing God:
Wake up 15 minutes earlier than you normally do and do these three things
Listen to 1 worship song and think about how amazing God is
Read a Psalm
Pray for each member of your family
Do that every day this week and see what happens in your heart and in your home!
