You want to know what makes a great parent? A committed believer in Jesus.
So what is a committed believer? Someone who has memorized the whole Bible? Someone who is perfect in every way?
Not in God's eyes. In God's eyes, a great believer is one who is "Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus (Phil 2:14-15).
Someone who understands that it is "by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. (Eph. 2:8-9)
The committed believer is simply a believer that is willing to take their next step with God.
Your kids don’t want perfection from you. They want to see a real person walking with a real Jesus.
In fact, kids usually distance themselves from the parent that tries to appear perfect. They connect with a real believer who is walking their own journey with Jesus and is willing to share that journey.
So stop working so hard on being a better parent and start focusing on an authentic connection with Jesus. Then what naturally flows out of you will be that great parent.
