One Shot at Parenthood: Learning and Giving It Your All

I remember late in my first decade as a parent (we are starting on our fourth decade now) we had our four daughters, and I could see this journey had no guarantee of success and I did not feel equipped for the battles ahead. I was fearful this journey was not going to turn out good. I had faith, but I also had doubt.

I remember at that point making these two commitments:

1. I was going to learn all I could about how to do family.  

2. I was not going to fail because of lack of effort. At the end of my family journey, they were going to drag me off that field bloody, battered, bruised, and exhausted because over the years I had given it everything I had in this one shot to raise my kids well.

Today my efforts have been rewarded. Not only did I learn about parenting my four daughters, but we also added three sons as well and all of them are on good paths with the Lord and with us.

I don’t know what “giving it your all” means to you. Actually, I think that looks different for every parent because we are created unique and our families are unique.  

But here’s one thing we know from talking with thousands of families all over the world:  

Every parent needs to learn how to do family.

And that’s where Crazy Cool Family comes in. I’ve have yet to meet a parent – including me – that did not need to learn more about how to connect with their children, learn to listen better, to become more encouraging and forgiving, to learn how to discipline better, etc. The list goes on and on. Just like there is so much to learn about our faith, there is so much to learn about leading or family well.

If you will spend just 15-30 minutes a week in our system, over a short time you will see your ability to lead your family taken to such new and great heights!
