“Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life.”
This powerful promise from Psalm 23:6 brought encouragement to one of our daughters, who is currently navigating a season of feeling very overwhelmed with her four little kids. One day, as she reflected on her hectic life, she noticed her children following her everywhere. In that moment, she felt the Lord speak to her through the verse.
She realized that her kids were a representation of the Lord’s goodness and mercy in her life. Now, when she walks around with her four little ones trailing behind her, she has experienced a profound shift in perspective. Instead of viewing the situation as a burden filled with stress, she now sees it as a reflection of God’s goodness and mercy following her wherever she goes.
His goodness is evident in the gift of her children and the opportunity to raise them. His mercy shines through in her redemption and the chance to disciple the next generation.
What a blessing it is to follow Jesus!
So, mamas and daddies, as you walk through your days with little ones or even bigger kids, take a moment to look back and remind yourselves: “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life!” Embrace the blessings and the challenges, knowing that God’s goodness and mercy are present in every moment.
Let this perspective inspire you as you journey through parenthood, cherishing the moments of joy and the lessons learned along the way. Each step with your children is a reminder of the love and grace that envelops your family, making the challenges worthwhile.
