The Tip of the Iceberg

Listen to Audio

Parents – do you ever feel like there are things your kids do that immediately set you off? I mean one second you are fine and the next one you are a rage monster on your spouse or children?

Okay, next question: are the things that set you off usually the same? Or potentially triggered the same way?

For example – kids yelling at each other in the car. You could be having a perfectly peaceful, wonderful, delightful day and you get in the car with the kids, and they start screaming and immediately your heart rate is through the roof – you are FUMMING with anger and letting everyone in the car know?

Another one… waking a sleeping baby. The big kids go CHARGING down the hall using their loudest walking and their even louder voices only to be met by the baby waking up a whole hour before they are supposed to…

What is your thing? Or maybe things?

These things (although annoying) are often not the thing that is truly the issue. Essentially these are just the tip of the iceberg and there are much deeper things going on underneath. Maybe it is stress, over stimulated, missed expectations, lack of sleep, or any of the other one million things we have going on as parents.

Today we challenge you to ask God some questions to help get to the bottom of that iceberg.

When you lose it, pause and ask God…

-What is actually going on here?

-Is there something bigger under the surface that is causing me to feel upset?

-What do you have to say about the situation?

-How can I reconcile back to God and my family after this?

Keep in mind that God loves you no matter what. He is on your team and will be faithful to answer you when you call on Him!
