Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.”
— Hebrews 13:7 (NIV)
Today, I want to talk directly to you parents. Here’s a thought-provoking question: Who are your leaders?
The writer of Hebrews offers us insight into what makes a good leader. First, they should be someone who “spoke the word of God to you.” This means they have a foundation in Scripture and can guide you with biblical wisdom.
Another important qualification is that these leaders should be individuals who are further along in life, allowing you to observe “the outcome of their way of life.” Their experiences can provide valuable lessons, and their character should be one you aspire to emulate.
So, who are you following? Who are you imitating?
Choosing our leaders is critical. We should seek out those who are not only knowledgeable in the Word of God but also demonstrate a life worth imitating—someone whose faith has withstood the tests of time and circumstance.
If no one comes to mind when you consider who is leading you, it might be time to ask the Lord to guide you toward someone—or several people—who could positively influence your journey.
Surrounding yourself with wise, faithful leaders can enrich your parenting and spiritual growth, ultimately shaping the legacy you leave for your children.
