What words would you use to describe your home’s “tone”?
Ep. 4:29 says, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”
As parents, we get to decide what words are allowed in our home. We can choose the consequences when our kids say things not allowed.
How do you set the tone in your home?
- Don’t nag – instead use affirming phrases.
- Stick with the “non-negotiable” words not allowed in your home.
- Eliminate it by example – you go first and choose not to say those words!
Parents, we can change the culture in our home and words + tone are a powerful piece of the puzzle. Choose to agree on things you will not say in your home and be diligent to keep the culture.
