Relationships are Key

Relationships are Key

Don shares about relationships in today’s tip. Check it out!

I was talking to a couple of dads the other day whom I have known for a long time. For both, their kids love the Lord, and these men are so proud of them.

They were wondering why they were blessed with great kids even though both these men have had ups and downs in their personal lives. In their minds, neither of them had lived lives that were worthy of the kids God gave them.

I told them both – and I knew this because I have lived it with them – there was one key thing they did and it made a difference. I believe this ONE KEY THING had a dramatic impact on their lives.

Relationships are Key

What is it?

They pursued their kids.

Both men loved their kids deeply and pursued them passionately. They were involved in their lives. They talked to them, cheered them on, and fought the battles of life with them.

Okay, full disclosure. Our eyes got a little teary as we talked about it.

Over anything else in parenting – and I believe scripture says the same – I believe connections in parenting are the most important thing we do. By far. It doesn’tmean our sin and mistakes won’t wound our kids, but so many of our ups and downs as parents can be overcome in our children’s lives if we just pursue them with all our heart.

That is why the center of our Crazy Cool Family house (shown below) is Build Relationships.

This month in The Playbook we are going through our Building Family Relationships guide Session One In this session, we are going through the how and why relationships are so important and how you can get better at them.

The session takes about 30-45 minutes to process. Check it out.

Anyone can learn to pursue their children, and pursuit makes a huge difference in parenting. Let us show you how to pursue well.
