Am I Even Good Enough?
As I write this, I’m wrestling with this very question.
Who am I to share parenting tips when some nights I lie in bed questioning everything? Did I handle it right? Did I mess them up? Should I start saving for the therapy they’ll need? (Kidding—kind of.)
Have you ever felt this way?
You find yourself praying, Lord, I love these children so much. Thank You for giving them to me. But are You sure?
And every time I bring my tears, frustrations, and doubts to Him, His response is the same:
“My grace is all you need, for my power is greatest when you are weak.”
—2 Corinthians 12:9 (GNTD)
His grace. His mercy. His power. His words.
He is all we need.
Breathe that in for a moment. I know I did.
God Didn’t Make a Mistake
God didn’t make a mistake when He chose you to parent your kids—even the strong-willed ones.
He knew exactly what He was doing.
He knows who you are, flaws and all, and He still chose you as their parent.
Isn’t that incredible?
Even more amazing, He didn’t leave us on a parenting island to figure it out on our own.
Friend, He is the answer. He is the source.
Parenting from Your Identity
Before you are a parent, you are a daughter or son of the King. And from that identity, you get to parent as His beloved.
You are a good parent. But even better, you have full access to the best parent.
So when you end the day unsure of your parenting skills, doubting your efforts, or completely frustrated with yourself, run to your Heavenly Father first.
Before social media. Before Netflix. Before venting to your spouse.
Run to God. Let Him remind you of who you are:
We’re cheering you on.
