Culture is Created

What is culture? It is a way of thinking or working that exists in a place or organization.

Culture is Created

Better question: What is the culture in your home?

Culture is how your home feels. Maybe a better way to understand culture is not to think about your family, but to think about other families in your life.

  • How do other husbands and wives get along?
  • What do you think about that parent’s relationship with his son?
  • What do you think it is like at the dinner table in their home?

Does this help you get an idea of culture?

Now think about your family – what is your family culture now and what would you like your family culture to be?

This month in The Playbook we are working through Session One of our guide Building Family Relationships. One of the areas we cover in this session is an introduction to culture. It is a key component to build your family well.

Want a great practical to take home today?

Have a discussion with your family about your family’s culture. Write down what they like about your family culture and what they don’t like. If they are scared to talk about it, this may give you an indication of your culture. If you want a real discussion, don’t defend and don’t get angry. Let the chips fall so you can get an idea of where your family culture really sits.

Finally, if you have not done so this month already, go through Session One of Building Family Relationships. You will get an idea not only of culture, but an overview of everything we will show you at Crazy Cool Family.
