Every Problem Solved

Listen to Audio

The great theologian Dallas Willard said, “There is no problem in human life that apprenticeship to Jesus cannot solve.”

Those are big words, but they hold a profound truth. Think about it.

  • If everyone were apprenticed to Jesus, what would happen to pornography?
  • If everyone were apprenticed to Jesus, where would divorce be?
  • If everyone were apprenticed to Jesus, what would become of drug and alcohol abuse?
  • If everyone were apprenticed to Jesus, how would social media look?

The list goes on.

In parenting, we can simply use the words of Jesus to help our children find answers to life’s challenges. Parenting becomes less about telling our kids what to do and more about helping them see the life-giving solutions Jesus offers.

Here are a few examples:

  • Relationship Difficulties — Jesus tells us to forgive others as God has forgiven us. When we practice forgiveness, we let God heal our hearts, which can in turn heal our relationships.
  • Purpose in Life — Jesus tells us not to worry about worldly things but to store up treasures in heaven. He points out that the troubles in our hearts often stem from placing our faith in earthly treasures.
  • Anxiety — Jesus reminds us not to be anxious, reassuring us that we can depend on our Father to take care of us.

These are just a few examples from the Sermon on the Mount. As we apprentice ourselves to Jesus, embracing God’s wisdom revealed through Him, we find answers to life’s most pressing problems.

What if, in your conversations with your kids, you made a habit of showing them the ways of Jesus—not in a judgmental way, but as a message of hope for their lives?
