I often hear parents comparing their kids to other kids or their families to other families.
The comparison is either in a complaining way because their kid or their family does not measure up or in a derisive way because the other kid or family does not measure up.
To add to the problem, it seems like our society is constantly measuring our kids for grades or band or sports teams or dance or whatever.
We never win when we compare. Either we get puffed up with pride because we think we are better or we are deluged with self-pity because we think we failing.
God made each of our children unique and each of our families unique.
The more we quit comparing and the more we try to listen to God and see his plans for our children and our family, the more we will see God's true direction for our lives.
Here are some great questions about your child and family you can ask yourself:
What makes my child unique?
Where has God gifted him or her?
What themes is God running through my family?
Take what God shares with you and go with those answers instead of letting the world tell you what your kids and your family need to do in comparison to others. God always has a better plan.
Who and what does God want your children and your family to be?
Ask and find that from God and watch your family take off!
